SRDC celebrated its 5th anniversary on 10.10.2023 at Pullman Hotel Kuching. “We want to create a conducive and supportive environment for the advancement of research, knowledge enhancement and human capital development throughout Sarawak."

“We want to drive Sarawak’s research and development in science and technology thus enhancing discovery, catalysing innovation, scientific excellence, and commercial development of discoveries.”

“We have seen some successes coming out from these ventures, we have to date, generated new knowledge through 38 publications arising from the funded projects."

“To facilitate and provide for a vibrant and engaging research ecosystem, the. government, through SRDC, has established three subsidiaries, the Sarawak Microelectronics Design (SMD) Semiconductor, Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre (SIDC) and the Sarawak Science Centre."

“SRDC, together with these subsidiaries of SMD and SIDC, have forged strong linkages with industry leaders and research institutes worldwide."

“While SRDC itself does not conduct research, it plays a very important role in facilitating, and engaging with reputable research partners to ensure global recognition for research in Sarawak."

“Moreover, SRDC has been facilitating engagements with international and local research networks,” he said.

Ts. DR. Peter Morin, the general manager of SRDC would like to pay tribute to everyone who has played a part in SRDC's progress and growing momentum. "What SRDC has today is the result of the outstanding work and dedication of many. Our achievements would not exist without the hard work and dedication of staff, as well as friends from all over.”

Moving forward, SRDC's new vision would be, to facilitate and emphasize research that bridges disciplines to explore new frontiers of scientific knowledge. Inspire and educate a new generation of Sarawakian scientific leaders. We are a catalyst for innovation hubs in Borneo and beyond.

"Now, as we look to the future, we know to fulfill our vision it is time to ambitiously broaden our commitment to innovation. We are working on two goals.  First, we are expanding our innovation partnerships to facilitate the translation of research from intellectual properties into products and services.”

Second, we are looking to attract entrepreneurs to develop their startups in life sciences in Sarawak and co-create the innovation ecosystem with our research entities."

"Our toughest challenge actually lies here in Sarawak, getting agencies to support a central coordinating body that gives research grants and does performance monitoring of R&D projects. Performance monitoring of R&D projects funded by the government, or any other funding bodies, for that matter, is very important to ensure outcomes are realised.

"Our contribution to Sarawak’s research ecosystem would not have been possible without the support and trust of all our partners and stakeholders. I thank you for your faith in us and for sharing a vision of what we could achieve together."

"We are all here this evening because of our association with SRDC, in one way or another. Great, seemingly impossible things can be done when everyone comes together to achieve a common goal."
