SRDC recently organised a hands-on training on remote sensing and its applications, especially in supporting the urgent need to monitor the environment.

The training, titled "Remote Sensing Training to Support Integrated Peatland Carbon Dynamics Monitoring", was delivered by Prof. Ts. Gs. Dr. Kasturi Devi Kanniah, FASc from the Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying, UTM and Gs. Dr. Nurul Amalin Fatihah binti Kamarul Zaman from School of Distance Education, USM. Participants came from multiple local agencies including SRDC, MEITD, NREB, DOA Sarawak, SFC and Forest Department Sarawak.

During this training, participants were exposed to foundational remote sensing knowledge and practical experience using open-access platforms and datasets, enabling them to apply the techniques to produce robust scientific insights and support evidence-based policies on environmental monitoring.

Thank you to Prof. Kasturi and Dr. Amalin for their expert guidance, and to the participants for their commitment and active participation throughout this training.
