UKRI and the British High Commission paid a courtesy visit to the Sarawak Research and Development Council on 5 March 2026. The engagement aimed to learn more about Malaysia’s innovation funding mechanisms and explore models of international innovation partnerships. Discussions also focused on identifying current trends and growth areas that could present opportunities for future collaboration.
Insights from the visit will support Innovate UK—an innovation agency under UKRI—in assessing Malaysia’s potential as a key strategic partner for future UK–Malaysia collaboration. The assessment may also help inform future funding allocations for initiatives such as the Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) and the Global Expert Missions Programme (GEM).
